Frequently Asked Questions

Which type of pool filter should I choose ?

An essential component, pool filters contribute to cleanliness of the pool water by removing debris and impurities, used in combination with a disinfectant. There are several types of filter: sand, diatomaceous earth, cartridge or zeolite.

Which filter is most popular?

Sand filters are without doubt the most widely used amongst private pool owners. Their great advantage is the low running cost and initial outlay, and the ability to filter large quantities of water easily. However, the minimum filtration size leaves a little to be desired, with removal of debris 30 to 40 microns or larger.

Cartridge filters are also very common. As the name suggests, these use a filtration cartridge which can be easily washed and replaced. A method that considerably simplifies day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of the device. The minimum filtration size is also better, of the order of 15-20 microns.

Which filters perform the best?

Operating in the same way as sand filters, zeolite filters use a 100% natural component of volcanic origin, with an excellent minimum filtration size of the order of 5 to 10 microns. They are also able to maintain their operating quality in water of any pH value, and adapt to all types of water, even the hardest!

We finish the list with the ultimate filter on the market: diatomaceous earth filters. This high-end appliance has an exceptional filtration size of 1 to 3 microns. It removes all impurities, leaving crystal-clear water of unparalleled transparency. It is also considered more eco-friendly due to the use of algae for the water filtration, and is suitable for all sizes of pool, from the smallest to the very largest. However, it is sensitive to hard water and requires frequent maintenance.
